A MassPack Member shared the following:

If it helps the other members, we have had the ability to punch credit card numbers in manually DISABLED.
(Only a manager with a password can override the register and we had a blind key put in to use the option. We use Atlantic Systems and worldpay).

If a card is swiped, tapped, or the chip inserted it is considered a “Card Present” transaction and that means the merchant is NOT liable.
A common technique for fraudsters is to disable the chip and the swipe so it does not come up as invalid right away.
By doing this, it has reduced our chargebacks to zero!!

Online is another story. Stores are getting crushed by fake cards. We use CityHive as our web host and they offer the ability to “insure” the sale if it looks risky for a fee.
I’m not sure if other web hosts or stores credit card providers offer this.
